Fun weekend in Chicago

Thanks to Lindsay and Dave for letting Viren and me stay with them last weekend in Chicago! I was in town for a Kellogg interview and they showed us around town. We went out to a great sushi restaurant in Lincoln Park on Saturday night and then went out with Lindsay and Dave's friends and Viren's friend Sonjay.

On Sunday, we went to the Museum of Science and Industry because after reading Devil in the White City I was really excited about seeing the last remaining building from the 1892 Chicago
World Fair. We walked around the museum for a bit, but left after about half an hour because it was a free admission day and there were about a million people there. I made everyone trek through the snow to see the wooded island and spouted a lot of trivia about how the landscaper for the World Fair wanted to create an idyllic natural habitat and imported peacocks and other animals. Lindsay said that I reminded her of Karen with my bits of historical trivia.

The highlight of the day was the Valentine's Day dinner we cooked, which consisted of salad, pasta with vodka cream sauce, garlic bread and carrot cake.

Lindsay and Dave had to work on Monday, President's Day, so they went off to work while Viren and I explored the city. We visited the Art Institute (free in February! I love Chicago museums!), saw the shiny bean statue in Millenium Park and wandered down the Magnificent Mile.

My Kellogg interview on Tuesday morning went really well and I liked the school, even though it's a little further out of the city than I had expected. I'll keep you all posted when I hear back from schools.

It was great to see Lindsay and Dave and their adorable cat Molly. Thanks again for hosting us!
